New Lenovo ThinkPad notebooks of the 2018 model year received a power adapter with a USB Type-C connector and a ThinkShutter webcam overlay for privacy protection

In anticipation of the opening of CES 2018, Lenovo introduced nine new notebooks of the 2018 model year to the ThinkPad range. All of them are focused primarily on business users, but the most interesting, perhaps, is the X series. The Chinese manufacturer does not yet disclose the characteristics of the new X1 Carbon or X1 Yoga, but gives general information about the X280 and X380 Yoga, which, in principle, you can estimate what to expect from the new products.

So, the new X280 and X380 Yoga offer processors Intel Core i7 of the eighth generation, up to 16 GB of RAM and SSD capacity of up to 1 TB.

X380 Yoga

As you can see from the title, the X380 Yoga, the successor to the ThinkPad Yoga 370, Transformation mode thanks to a hinge with a 360 ° rotation angle, turning the laptop in the tablet. In addition, the novelty even comes with a stylus.

X280

The X280, replacing the X270, is even more similar to the X1 Carbon. With a chassis thickness of 17.4-17.8 mm, the novelty weighs only 1.16 kg.

The rest of the novelties include a power adapter with a USB Type-C connector and a sliding overlay near the web camera to protect privacy. The last feature, which has its own name ThinkShutter, received almost all new ThinkPad laptops. Only the X380 Yoga model did not receive an overlay on the webcam, but it is equipped with an infrared sensor for the Windows Hello face recognition function.

The Lenovo ThinkPad notebook lineup also includes updated Lenovo T- and L-series models, actual Intel Core processors of the eighth generation. All three new Lenovo ThinkPad T laptop models have received ThinkShutter overlays, and the T480 and T580 models also have an IR sensor to support the Windows Hello face recognition function.

New L-series models featuring high price / performance ratio are equipped with connectors USB-C (x2) and, of course, come with a power adapter with USB Type-C connector.

All new Lenovo ThinkPad notebooks will go on sale this month. In the case of L-series models, the prices start at $ 609, the T-series models will be slightly more expensive from $ 989, the starting price of the ThinkPad X280 will be $ 999, while the X380 Yoga will cost at least $ 1459.
