Ken’s leaving

All is well here.  Nothing terribly new, I think.

My friend, Ken-from-work, is leaving on Friday for a new career as a student.  We’ll miss him at work.  He’s been there for about four and a half years and was well liked and respected.  Still is.

His replacement has some big shoes to fill.  I think she’ll work out reasonably well, but I’ll miss him on a personal level too.

I organized his going-away lunch, which we had today.  It turned out very well.  Several people had meetings to go to at 1pm, so I sent our food orders in ahead of time and asked the restaurant to have everything ready by 12:15pm, which they did.  Everyone had a chance to say goodbye and a few words were said.  I didn’t even lose any money on the deal!

Afterwards I was praised for — get this — my organizational skills!!
