eww!
Can you make out what this is? I knew right off the bat, only because there was a pile of gray fur nearby. This is a photo of a dead possum from my backyard. My suspicion is that one of my dogs, probably Buckaroo got this critter - probably a juvenile. The dogs came in the house a couple of times smelling pretty rank over the last week or so. Before I went to mow the yard Liz asked me to keep an eye out for something, and sure enough I came across this decomposing carcass.
I still haven’t taken my new mower to the repair shop yet - I’m fairly certain that the rock I hit damaged the axle on which the blade spins. And that’s what is preventing it from starting. Anyway, I got a new trimmer today - and I am very happy with it. Its much more powerful than my old one and this one automatically lets out the nylon string. So that’s good.
We also went to Kane’s nursery where Liz picked up some fall flower arrangements. They’re for out front and they’re made up of some mums and some of those winter-time cabbages. I try not to concern myself with the details - I lift what needs to be carried and arrange what needs to be arranged.
So I mowed. I trimmed. I did some reading. It was a nice day.
The weather has been fantastic. I grilled some steak from Omaha Steaks and they turned out really well. Me and the kids loved it. I cooked dinner a couple of nights this weekend. Another night I grilled some chicken and had some kind of noodle-thing from Trade Joes. The kids pretended to like it, which is really all I can ask.
So its been a good weekend. This week I will be at training in Burlington, MA learning how to tune an Oracle database for performance. I think I will pick up a lot about performance as well as the care and feeding of the DB that I haven’t had to do before. it should be very productive.
The kids go back to school on Wednesday. Ben isn’t looking forward to it. On saturday morning we got the van inspected and its oil changed. He was saying that he wasn’t looking forward to returning to school because none of his friends are in his section of the school. We talked about that for a while and spent a couple of hours visiting. I think he’ll be fine.
That’s it for now.
