things are going well
The kids all went to camp yesterday from 10am until 4pm. They all had a good time. Grace came back a little sad, though. She didn’t pass her swimming test on the first try so she wasn’t allowed in the big pool. She said that when the lifeguard asked her to tread water she didn’t hear him. So the lifeguard failed her. We went to a pool party last night and I asked her to show me how she swam and while she isn’t a strong swimmer, I think she should still be able to pass the test. She showed me how she treads water and it was the same thing - she probably couldn’t tread water for 15 minutes, but I bet she could do it for five. So, if they’re inclined to give her a little leeway I think she’ll pass.
Liz and I went on an “extreme Segway” tour yesterday morning. It was every bit as much fun as it looks like. These segways are made to go off-road and have large knobby tires to power through mud and up hills. It was great. We had an awesome time! After lunch we went in to town and did a little grocery shopping. Then we came back and sat down for a few minutes.
When I woke up an hour later it was time to get the kids from camp.
In the evening they had some kind of “country fair” thing with local vendors selling things like organic honey, fossils/stones and frozen meat. They had face painting, henna tattoo and massage (gracie loved her three minute massage). Chloe got 17″ of hair wrapped in string - it looks super.
Today the weather looks less promising so we’ll see how it goes.
