Grace rocks
Grace is doing GREAT in kindergarten. Last week she brought home a report card that was stellar! Admittedly its a kindergarten report card that is full of teddy bears, A-B-C blocks and fairies, but what the heck? I guess everyone needs a grading scheme. There were maybe 35 criteria and she couldn’t score any higher on 33 of them. The other two say that she’s “on target” or something.
Today she went to a friend’s birthday party at a bowling alley and the little woman heard from several moms that their boys think Grace is just the Bee’s Knees. One boy had to answer the question “I would walk 100 steps for …” and finished it with ” … Gracie to get Dominoes”. Apparently he likes Grace AND pizza! Another little boy was at the post office with his mother and asked for his own stamps. She said that she would be happy to put a stamp on whatever letter he wrote. And he reiterrated that he needed his own stamps for his own… you know… letters. PRIVATE letters. His mother said “Oooohh… and would these private letters be for someone who’s name starts with ‘G’?” he got all sheepish and bashful about it and blushed.
She’s a pretty great kid and is having a good time. In fact, at the birthday party, she won the bowling competition!
Hah. I’m very proud of my little GraceFace.
Want to hear a stupid routine we have? At dinner she sits next to me. Whenever she has something that needs to be opened or unwrapped (like a toy from McDonalds or a twinkie or whatever) she sweetly asks if I will open it for her. i always say something like, “Why thank you, Grace! This looks delicious! I would love some! Thank you!”. She laughs and tells me that its not for me to eat and that I’m supposed to OPEN it!
We’ve been doing this for maybe three years.
What? It doesn’t sound funny? I wouldn’t think she would still be laughing at it, but I keep making the joke and she keeps laughing and telling me what a silly daddy I am. I guess I will keep doing it as long as she keeps laughing.
