Zombies and children and Kowloon, oh my!

The weekend was excellent.  Sure, enough, on Friday night we went to a friends’ 40th birthday party at a local Chinese restaurant.  Everyone had a good time and the guest of honor looked like she was really enjoying herself when we left around 8:30pm.

We went straight to the second party where we only stayed for about fifteen minutes – by then it was about 9:30pm and the kids were up a long way past their usual bedtimes and needed to go to bed.  Grace was whiney and complainy.  The other kids, though seemed to be doing ok.

On Saturday morning I was very tired.  Super tired.  So tired that I decided that we didn’t really NEED to get up at 7am go to swimming lessons.  Now I feel kind of bad about it and wish I had gotten off my lazy ass and taken them swimming.  It was cold on Saturday and raining and I was very tired from the night before.  But I think I should have cowboy’ed up and taken them to the pool.  Afterall, its not like *I* had to swim.

In any case, we dropped to dogs off at the puppy-resort and then boogied up to Westbrook, ME to see some old friends.  Their girls and our girls get along really well and me and Liz really like the adults.  So we get together once every couple of months.  This time was kind of special because our friend, Mike had been an extra in a zombie movie called “2”.  Here are some still photos from it.  The movie premiered on Saturday night in a small milltown called Biddeford.  We spent the afternoon visiting and getting dressed up in Zombie costumes.  A babysitter arrived to babysit all seven kids (Whoa!!) and we took off for the City Theater.  We had a great time there – all kinds of people dressed up as zombies of all types: kid-zombies, old-fart-zombies, pimp-zombies.  It was fun.  We watched the movie and it looked like it was a lot of fun to make.  It was a terrible movie, but looked like a lot of fun.  The same production company is making Lobsteroids and some other bad, bad movies.

We spent the night in a hotel that was right around the corner from our friends’ house.  It was a lovely B&B but the owners had thoughtfully (thoughtlessly?) turned the heat up in our room… to eighty degrees.  Me?  I was fine.  I took a shower and dropped off right away.  Liz was up for a while unable to sleep due to the heat.

We came home on Sunday morning after breakfast and spent the afternoon taking it easy.  The kids carved pumpkins and I watched football.  I wasn’t feeling all that great – I guess I’m not accustomed to having so much fun in such a short amount of time!

All in all it was a pretty good weekend.
