EEK! - Critter Corner - The Mink
Dude - I totally saw a mink today. On the way home - over next to Spot Pond.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a mink, but today, on the way home, one went bounding across the road. It was way too big to be a ferret. I looked up “weasel” and it says that they’re only six to 14 inches long. This was much longer than that. It was dark brown at one end and redish brown at the other end. It had that weasel-like fluid loping movement and wasn’t as skinny as a ferret.
I’ve done some poking around and i think it MUST have been a mink.

There are fishers in the Middlesex Fells. Fishers are members of the weasle family and that is probably what you saw.
I think you were totally right. I think it was a fisher. I read up on them a little and that could absolutely be what i saw.
