EEK! - Critter Corner - The Mink

Dude - I totally saw a mink today.  On the way home - over next to Spot Pond.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a mink, but today, on the way home, one went bounding across the road.  It was way too big to be a ferret.  I looked up “weasel” and it says that they’re only six to 14 inches long.  This was much longer than that.  It was dark brown at one end and redish brown at the other end.  It had that weasel-like fluid loping movement and wasn’t as skinny as a ferret.

I’ve done some poking around and i think it MUST have been a mink.

So I finished my first day at my new job.  It was fine.  This morning I went through 3 hours of  “orientation”.  Normally my boss would have been the one to come and find me and bring me to my office.  But he’s off at SAP’s TechEd event.  I can’t blame him - its a good convention and is held in Las Vegas.

So “Bill” came to get me.  Him and the other guy from my group talked a little about some specifics and then told me I was on my own for lunch.  I was a little put off by that, to be honest.  That wasn’t terribly friendly, is it?  Is it just me?

Eh - that’s ok.  I can get over it.  We had a fine meeting later and everyone was cordial and friendly.  I don’t dislike these guys, but I do think they’re schmucks.

Otherwise the day went well.  The commute was good.

I’m in a cube again.  Damnit.  I’m in a temporary cube before we move on 10/11 to our next temporary location while they renovate out current location.  THEN we’ll move to our permanent location.  So I have NO idea where I’m going to wind up sitting.  I do know that it will be close to the new fitness center.  A couple of years ago I dropped 25lbs because I worked out regularly.  When I left the place that had the fitness center I put EVERY pound back on.  So I’m optimistic that I can lose some more weight again.

I’ll write more later - for now, I think its time for bed.
