Big pack meeting tonight
As you know I’m deeply involved with cub scout pack 615 right now. I’m their fundraising monkey, I mean “chairman”. So I have a number of obligations. Ben meets twice a month with about eight other boys and a leader to do their Webelos-thing. They often do some kind of craft/construction/community project. Likewise, Gabriel meets twice a month to do the same kind of thing. Once a month there’s a pack meeting. At least once a month there’s a committee meeting. There are outings and other pack events that may be things like a hockey game, ice skating, hiking, camping etc. There’s usually at least one or two of these things per month on a weekend.
You can see how scouts can quickly come to dominiate a household.
Tonight’s pack meeting is a big event. No, not because its “Skit Night”, where each den performs a skit. Its because Benjamin will receive his “Arrow of Light” award and participate in a cross-over ceremony wherein he will stop being a cub scout and start being a boy scout. Its a big deal and I’ve asked Liz to come too despite her having never attended one of these things.
So that’s a big deal for tonight.
The rest of the weekend is wide open.
