April Fools
I went the whole day and didn’t play one practical joke on the little woman — although she would consider all the wrong turns I made getting to the Museum of Science a series of practical jokes. What killed me about that is that none of them were on purpose. EVERY time I go in to Boston they’ve rearranged something that throws me off. Usually I can get lucky and rely on my native guy-instict to help me navigate where I need to go but not today. It was awful. I’m not sure I’ve ever made so many consecutive wrong turns. We spent, literally 45 minutes “touring” downtown Boston and the Back Bay because I kept taking wrong turns. And let me assure you that it isn’t that I didn’t know where I wanted to be. I know right where the museum is. And it isn’t that I didn’t know where me and my vehicle were. I have been on these same streets many times. The trouble is that now the traffic patterns have changed and exits don’t go where they used to. Tunnels are now provided that take you in a completely bass ackwards direction.
You get on the west-bound storrow drive by going east! What kind of sense does that make?!
After 45 minutes I made my last wrong turn: I accidentally got on the highway heading back home. At that point I threw in the towel and told everyone we would try again tomorrow. I felt like a total dope and a traitor to my gender. I was going to have to drive miles north of the city just to turn around and get back to where I wanted to be.
Ugh.
So, the museum opens tomorrow at 9am and I want to be there bright and early so we can get a turn on the simulated milleneum falcon cockpit.
Instead we went to see Ice Age: The Melt Down. It was a cute movie and was maybe the easiest time we’ve ever had taking the kids to a movie.
I watched a little soccer today. The Chicago Fire was playing FC Dallas. What does that mean? The “FC” part.
Oh, I see. It means Futból Club. So now I want to go see the New England Revolution on Sunday, April 30th.
That will be their home opener. I’m not a big fan of soccer, but I like to watch it sometimes. And I’ve mentioned that Ben and Gabe are playing this spring and I’m being the assistant soccer coach. I Think it would be a fun outing. Its even at 3 o’clock in the afternoon. I know Grace shouldn’t go and probably Chloe shouldn’t go either.
This reminds me, I need to renew my fishing license. I didn’t get to go much last year — not enough to even catch one fish. I think we went once to Horn Pond in Woburn.
