what did we do with Saturday?

Very little.

The dog woke me up with his new trick. He’s finally come to understand that he’s allowed to come upstairs. All this time, he would never walk up the stairs because (I think) he thought he wasn’t allowed. A couple of days ago he started coming up to play with the girls and he bounced up on to the bed recently to show off for Liz. So this morning he started licking my face.

At 5:30am.

After taking him out I enjoyed a cat nap before actually getting up. The kids have had their Feb break this week and have had friends over and have gone to visit kids. Really I think they’ve had a pretty great week.

I ran a couple of errands earlier in the day with company provided by Peterman and Chloe. We saw that our favorite florist had a special of 20 dafodils for $4.99 — so we brought some home for Liz. There’s nothing like spring flowers in winter.

Then I came home and picked up the rest of the family and went over to Stoneham to get some new garbage cans and Liz had wanted to visit a healthfood store there. Also, a few days ago a car wash tore my car’s antenna right off the base. It was an after-market antenna and they actually had a sign up saying they weren’t responsible for antennas nor after-market products. So I spent $7.50 on a new one and installed it this afternoon.

Also our town is going to a “pay-as-you-throw” system for garbage removal. We’re going to have to put stickers on our bags or purchase special Melrose-only bags. This is how the city will have us pay for garbage removal. I’m kind of pissed about it because trash-pickup seems like one of those services that should just come with residency, you know? But anyway, right now I can still throw away as much as I want without having to pay extra. So I spent some time this afternoon cutting up scrap wood that’s been taking up space in my store room so I could throw them out.

We got about 3 inches of snow. Liz and I “shoveled” it. I put that in quotes because there was so little of it and it was so fluffy that, although we used shovels, it was really more like sweeping that shoveling.

We’re talking over the idea of renovating the upstairs bathroom. We’ve never liked it and we’re also starting to notice the other houses for sale in our town.

That’s about it. It was a pretty quiet day.
