Al Sharpton and ‘The Boondocks’, not The N—a Show

Jake Tapper mentions The Boondocks and Al Sharpton in yesterday’s Down & Dirty blog entry.

ABC News: ‘The Boondocks’: Not the N&#@$%a Show

I can’t stay up until 11pm on a Sunday night to watch a cartoon, but I have to confess that I Tivo it and watch it later in the week. The kids are really curious about why I don’t let them watch it. Mostly, its the extensive use of the word “nigga”.

its hard to type that word. Its funny how you can’t divorce the meaning from words and how some words carry an undeniable punch.

Anyway, its the cursing in the show I don’t need the kids watching. Ben is particularly intrigued. In any case, I watch the show every week and think its great.

How interesting is your IP?

IP Spotting - 198.28.128.153 - How interesting is your IP address?

This is stupid and silly and oddly entertaining. My IP address from work had a score of six. As a poker hand it was a pair of two’s. There was a bit-map that didn’t look like much of anything. I had the option of disputing the web site’s determination that it didn’t look like anything, but I have to agree with them.

In fact, in terms of “interesting-ness” it scored 20429 out of 32215. That means 63% of the other IP addresses were more interesting than mine.

Hmm… I’ll have to see how interesting my home IP address is.

Oh no, what am I going to do for Valentine’s Day?!

I hate this. Every year, I don’t know what to do. Last year was different, though. Hmmm… so I’ve already done that one. I’d better come up with something good and quick.

Liz is having a rotten day and could use something to look forward to.

Thursday - an update

I know that this blog has been uncharacteristically quiet for the last couple of weeks. I have to admit that its because I have a lot going on right now that I can’t really get in to.

Well, I guess I can speak superficially about the fact that I’m looking for another job. Truth is that I’ve found one and I’m in the process of unentangling myself from my current employer. They’ve been mostly decent about it. Well, they’re not making it easy for me to go and they’re throwing up roadblocks every time I turn around. Its getting very frustrating.

Their last roadblock will either be solved very shortly or by April first. Either way I think I will soon be working in Cambridge, MA, which ought to be kind of cool. Yes, Cambridge has troubles that come with being an urban center but its also the home to some of the best educational institutions in the world and there are a lot of smaller companies that circle them like satellites. I will be interested to see what life is like over there. I’ll be in one of the converted mills — it was converted in to glass and steel and renovated.

I’ll be able to tell more later. For now, I’m very frustrated and stressed out. Mostly I think that’s an over-used word, but in this case I really am becoming stressed out and I don’t care for it.

This whole situation needs to resolve itself soon.
