Its been raining off and

Its
been raining off and on for a couple of days now.  I took Peterman
for a walk yesterday after dinner.  I am still trying to get him
more comfortable on the leash before we begin training in
earnest.  I’m interested in getting him proficient at sit, stay,
come, heel and down.  No, I guess I don’t need a leash for several
of these, but it would be helpful for several of them.  We’ve been
working on “sit” already.  We’ve been practicing “come” but
without any real method.

Last
night we met Mike and Greta, who is a 6-year old female boxer.
They live on the road behind ours and are very friendly.  Peterman
immediately went in to play mode and began romping with the giantess,
Greta. She was kind of hesitant but soon romped back a
little.  Nobody left their leashes and it was all very friendly
and social.  Shortly we left them and met a twenty-something dark
haired woman who immediately started coo-ing at my adorable little
friend.  He yipped in greeting and tried to run towards her.

Apparently he’s a friendly and outgoing little guy.

We turned a corner and met some kids who all had to come over and pet him.  It started to rain a little bit.

As
turned the last corner to start coming home we met a mother and her
infant.  She asked the dogs age and breed and coo’ed at him.
The rain started coming down in buckets so we found some shelter under
a tree where we rested for a couple of minutes.

A
range rover approached us in reverse with a woman on a cell phone
shrieking about how cute Peterman was.  Turns out she has a
red-merle female of breeding age.  The woman was very keen to set
up a date with Peterman when he comes of age.

That sly dog already has a date!

She was disappointed to hear that we plan to neuter my short friend.

When we finally got home we were both soaked to the bone but it had been a good walk.
