I went over to REI

I
went over to REI today and picked up a new bike rack for the
Odyssey.  It’s a good Thule rack that’s capable of
holding FIVE bikes at a time!  I figure if we need to carry
more than five bikes at a time, we can worry about it then.

It’s
a pretty hot rack and I’m really excited about it because this means
I’ll be able to take the kids to some places that have been calling
to me.  For instance, there’s a great looking bike path
that leads from the highway over to Concord.  It looks like
there’s a great dirt road that takes you along the old ā€œBattle
Road†where the American Colonials harassed the retreating red coats
back in 1776.  While I don’t think I’ll get there
this weekend, I sure will sometime.  My neighbor, Mike said he was interested in going as well.
REI
was really, really busy.  I guess their Labor Day sale is
really well attended.  Afterwards, me and a buddy from work
went to The Duck Walk in Wakefield for Thai food.  It was
really good and we thoroughly enjoyed it.  The warm weather
was relaxing and after eating their food I always get a very satisfied
feeling of being at peace with everything.

Thai food really works for me.
This
evening I have some Battlestar Galactica lined up.  I’ll
need to take El Doggo for a walk somewhere.  I’d prefer to
go somewhere wooded – he likes it better and I find it more relaxing
too.  Maybe we’ll go to the Middlesex fells behind the
Flynn Rink.

Last night we took

Last
night we took Peterman to the Middlesex Fells again.  We went
behind the old Boston Regional Medical Center (BRMC) where the rusty
water tower is.  There’s a resovoir there and a gravel road and a
lot of other dogs.  Its a really great place for a walk.
We’re trying to get him used to walking on a leash.  He’s doing
better.

I also got word that my brother-in-law will be able to drive up from New Jersey to go fishing with us on September 10th!  Very exciting news!

The weather all weekend is supposed ot be warm and dry.  Its going to be PERFECT!

What
will I do with it?  Well, I think Saturday is wide open and I will
encourage Liz to do something she enjoys because she’s been saddled
with the kids all this week and will have them all next week,
too.  I think she would appreciate having a break from them.
I don’t think I have any urgent chores that need doing so maybe we can
focus on fun this weekend.

I saw that MassBike is having a Bike Festival
in Concord.  It looks like a lot of fun.  They have ride
distances for riders of all skill levels.  The shortest is 6.5
miles and the longest is 100km.  There’s BBQ and all kinds of
stuff.  Another year I will want to go, but I think this year
we’ll do something else.  I don’t want to leave the dog alone all
day and Liz and the girls couldn’t come with us.  I don’t think
this is the right year, but it looks like a lot of fun!

On
Sunday Liz has to take Chloe and Grace to a birthday party.  There
are a couple of girls who are similar in age to my girls and are having
a combined birthday party.  The boys weren’t invited, which is
fine.  But that leaves me and my boys about half a day to kill
without the women-folk around.  My plan is to go fishing.  I
know Chloe will be sad that she missed it.  But she’s got a fun
birthday party to go to.  To make it even more fun, I’m thinking
about taking the bikes.  So me and boys can drive to our
destination then bike to a good spot on the lake and then spend a while
fishing.

Doesn’t that sound great?  Well, it does to me.

I can take Sunday morning to do chores around the house — there’s always something.

PS: REI is havin a super duper special sale.
They’re taking clearance items, which are already
marked down and knocking an extra 50% off the
price when you add it to the basket.  The values
are outstanding!
