Sometimes my day is consumed

Sometimes
my day is consumed be resolving a thousand miniscule issues.
Maybe I’ll reset a lot of passwords or resolve a dozen security
problems. People come by all day asking me my opinion about how
things work. Maybe I’ll confirm that a bunch of our standards are
being followed or our disaster recovery settings are correct.

other days, I’ll have one problem that consumes an inordinate amount of
time. Today for instance, I spent the first six and a half
hours on ONE troublesome problem.

How
can this be a productive use of my time? Well, I spent six hours
on it because its something that needed to be fixed and I was the only
one who could do it.
