Solomon family snow day
As another four to six inches of snow falls today the schools are
supposed to be back in session. However, the kids can’t walk to school
because the sidewalks are impassable, which means they have to walk in
the road. This is a dicey proposition with Massachusetts drivers in the
first place, much less while its snowing and making the roads an even
sloppier nastier mess than they already were. It would helpful if there
was space around the school that was plowed so parents could actually
park their cars when they dropped off or picked up their kids.
Frankly,
the dropping off doesn’t seem like too much trouble: you slow down and
kick them out the door and they’ll find their way to their classroom.
However, when the parents have to retrieve their kids there’s NO place
to park. The piles of snow are too tall and not enough space has been
plowed. Yes, you can park farther away but then you’re facing walking
in traffic again. Also, the kindergarten teachers won’t let the little
kids out unless they see someone who is specifically allowed to
retrieve the child.
So I think that although Melrose says there’s school today, we’ve called a Solomon-family snow day. Except I’m at work.
