So the computer is back…
So the computer is back in working order! It looks like it was only down for A MONTH. How awful. Its a good thing I take my professional computer more seriously. It wasn’t hard getting along with only Lizzie’s adorable little iBook. Its a pleasant machine and keeps us hooked in to the web and email and whatnot. Most of what I use my machine for I was also able to use her for.
But its still good to have things back in working order. It was no easy task though! I won’t bore you with all the details, but I can tell you that I eventually gave up trying to get the all the IDE drive jumpers and cables to work together and took it to Apex Computers in Malden to have them fix it. The discovered a problem in the motherboard and ordered me a new one for $140 on top of the $100 assembly fee. I wasn’t upset with the cost; its about what I expected. I feel like a little bit less of a man for having to pay someone else to fix what I should have been able to handle. But I’ll get over it.
Now I have
(D:) a hotshit DVD burner
(C:) a 120GB HDD
(E:) a 20GB HDD
(F:) a 40GB HDD
My aim is to drop the 20GB as soon as I can finish migrating all my old crap off it and install a regular CD drive. This will enable me to duplicate CD’s without having to make a copy of them on my HDD (I hope). This may take longer than it sounds because the 20GB used to be my C: drive and has lots of remnants I want to keep. My email and address book for instance.
